Aww its so cute how protective Orlu and Chichi are of each other.Sunny’s mother has to have at least a little inkling of what is going on with Sunny, Chichi, and Chichi’s mother. In my experience most boys pick on their sisters friends, not hit on them. Ok, but seriously how old is Chichi? I know Sunny’s brothers probably arn’t that much older than her, but Chichi has to be something else if her brothers are hitting on her. Also, they are allowed to traipse all around the city when there is a killer running about!! These kids are given a lot of responsibility. On a similar note, I feel like these kids are very young to be working some of these serious juju’s and using chemicals that can cause cancer, or cooking things that can explode in an hour if you don’t cook them exactly right.I don’t know why but it surprises me that the kids are treated just as harshly as the adults in the leopard world.I wish I had a ghost hopper to sing me to sleep, that sounds awesome!.Sunny has such good friends- the ones who can’t wait until the next day to check up on you, and to think, it all started with Sunny’s friends turning on her.The dialogue on page 186 confuses me a little, I don’t understand who is talking.I get the feeling that before she found out she almost never lied or would be comfortable lying and deceiving her mother. Sunny has sure been doing a lot of lying lately. It’s also kinda creepy how they just know when you have done something wrong- its almost like the thought police form 1984. Wow I didn’t realize how serious the spirit face thing really was.Why do they keep saying o at the end of phrases?.Orlu is obviously going to be chosen because he shares the respect of others-including animals- that Taiwo does. You can tell who each mentor is going to choose before they even meet.Sunny picks a book she can’t even read- but she is curious to learn, Sasha chose Udide’s Book of Shadows because he is dangerous and a little to curious, Orlu chose a Field Guide To Night Runner’s Forest because he does not like to be caught off guard- he likes knowledge, and Chichi chose Leo Frobenius: Atlantis Middleman or Sellout because there arn’t many books left for her to read at this point, and because she loves adventure and far off places.

The books each of them choose all say a little something about them.Sunny’s name says it all, she loves the sun even though it seemingly hated her skin, she was saved by the light and hurt by the light. It is so fitting that her spirit is the sun and Anyanwu is such a beautiful word.Shes born in America, of Nigerian decent, is “white,” lives in Nigerian, is a Leopard Person, free agent, and speaks English and Igbo. I am surprised with all these changes she isn’t having an identity crisis.
